LAUGFS Life Sciences proudly introduced Sri Lanka’s first-ever Allergy Awareness Wrist Bands through a CSR initiative focused on patient safety and emergency preparedness.
The initiative was led by the LAUGFS Life Sciences leadership, including CEO Dr. Rajiv Perera. Designed to be worn at all times, the wrist bands visibly communicate critical allergy and drug-sensitivity information—enabling healthcare professionals to identify risks instantly and deliver prompt, appropriate care during medical emergencies.
he official handover took place at the Medical Research Institute (MRI), Colombo. The wrist bands, developed to clearly identify specific drug-related allergies were handed over to Dr. Dhanushka Dassanayake, Consultant Immunologist and Head of the Department of Immunology – MRI; Dr. Rajiva De Silva, Senior Consultant Immunologist – MRI; and Dr. Prabath Amerasinghe, Deputy Director – MRI.
Marking a historic first, the very first allergy wrist band was presented to a patient with a paracetamol allergy, highlighting the real-life impact of this initiative. As part of this ongoing commitment, LAUGFS Life Sciences plans to progressively expand the range of wrist bands to cover additional drugs and allergens, extending this life-saving solution to a wider patient community.
