Hon. Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, Minister of Health and Mass Media, recently visited LAUGFS Life Sciences’ state-of-the-art sterile pharmaceutical facility at the BOI Export Processing Zone in Koggala. The visit marked an important milestone in advancing Sri Lanka’s healthcare sector through world-class local manufacturing.
The Minister was welcomed by Dr. Ravi Edirisinghe, Group CEO of LAUGFS Holdings, Dr. Rajiv Perera, CEO of LAUGFS Life Sciences, and senior leadership teams. He was given a tour of the facility’s advanced sterile infusion production lines, where LAUGFS is preparing to introduce Large Volume Parenterals (LVPs) using Euro Multiport systems and Form-Fill-Seal technology; globally recognised methods that ensure safety, sterility, and efficiency.
Dr. Jayatissa commended the initiative, noting that such investments enhance local production, reduce reliance on imports, and deliver high-quality, affordable solutions for both public and private healthcare sectors. He also emphasised the vital role of public-private partnerships in strengthening national healthcare resilience.
