The LAUGFS Gas Annual Cricket Encounter was held on 13th September 2025 at the Board of Investment Grounds, Biyagama, bringing together employees for a spirited day of sportsmanship and camaraderie. A total of nine teams, including Office, Logistics, Security, Plant 01, Plant 02, Sales, Terminal, Finance, and Engineering, battled it out on the field, cheered on by colleagues who joined to witness the thrilling matches.
After an exciting series of games, Team Logistics, captained by Dhanushka Rangajeewa, emerged as champions, while Team Office, led by Ravin Lankage, secured the runner-up position. Individual accolades included Best Batsman – Ravin (Team Office), Best Bowler – Dhanushka Sanjeewa (Team Logistics), and Man of the Series – Dhanushka Rangajeewa (Team Logistics).
Adding a unique highlight to the day, LAUGFS Gas CEO Mr. Nalinda Kurukulasooriya played for Team Office, guiding them to a semi-final victory with an impressive display of power-hitting. Both Mr. Kurukulasooriya and Cluster CEO Dr. Niroshan J. Pieries graced the occasion, underscoring the spirit of unity the tournament fostered.
Beyond the competition, the encounter successfully strengthened bonds across teams, especially with colleagues from the Terminals and Engineering.
